How We Will Support You

Our strong curriculum and unmatched experiences will be sure to set you up for success. But that’s not all. You will be immersed in an unforgettable culture and have resources available to you that can only be found at an organization like OhioHealth.

Program Requirements

Applicants must have graduated from an osteopathic medical school or obtained equivalent osteopathic manipulative medicine training. You must also have successfully completed your Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing or Saudi Medical Licensing examination. We accept only those physicians who express a vibrant interest in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, as we believe passion is paramount in providing the best patient care.

Rotation Opportunities

Doctors Hospital provides our residents with considerable experience in an urban community hospital, but we have also created additional educational opportunities by partnering with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Trauma and Plastic Surgery programs at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, and the Head and Neck Surgery program at the University of Cincinnati.

Culture

Our culture at OhioHealth is one of our greatest strengths. We operate as a family, and you will find a high level of camaraderie among OhioHealth fellows and faculty physicians. Mentorship is encouraged and support is offered for the duration of your program to help you achieve necessary milestones.

Wellness

OhioHealth is a national leader in the provider wellness field. We regularly use the Mayo Clinic’s Well-Being Index to identify and address burnout and distress, provide a format for reflective groups, and offer proactive meetings with our Physician Health and Wellness group to help you manage stress. An interdisciplinary committee of residents and trainees monitors the wellness of all OhioHealth residents and assesses opportunities.

Research and Development

In years two through four, our otolaryngology residents have academic time to work on research projects. The OhioHealth Research Institute will provide you with the tools you need to plan and conduct your research project, including access to existing research, clinical and data coordination, contract guidance, quality assurance and other types of support.

Our residents are also invited by faculty to review and write book chapters and case presentations, and participate in scholarly activities and publications.

Outcomes and Placement

Several of our graduates have gone on to complete fellowships in rhinology, skull-based surgery, facial plastic surgery and otology. They can be found practicing across the United States. Many also choose OhioHealth for their long-term career, having gained an appreciation for our culture and development opportunities.
