OhioHealth Named Top 2018 Crest 2 Enroller

Under the leadership of Gary Ansel, MD, principal Investigator, OhioHealth was named a Top 2018 enroller to the National Institutes of Health-funded study, Crest 2. The OhioHealth Research Institute's work contributed greatly to the national enrollment, helping our patients get the very best care for their carotid disease.

Advancement in Treating Valvular Heart Disease

Steven J. Yakubov, MD, co-authored a publication in the New England Journal of Medicine for OhioHealth Research Institute participation in a research study titled "Transcatheter Aortic-Valve Replacement With a Self-Expanding Valve in Low-Risk Patients." This study reflects continuing advancement in the treatment of valvular heart disease. This article reveals that newer heart valves may let patients avoid surgery in the future. Improvement in Stroke Outcomes

Nirav Vora, MD, was recently published in Stroke related to OhioHealth Research Institute participation in the national study entitled "Impact of Balloon Guide Catheter Use on Clinical and Angiographic Outcomes in the STRATIS Stroke Thrombectomy Registry." The outcome suggests that routine use of balloon guide catheter (BCG) may improve rates of early revascularization success and good clinical outcomes. Read the article.
